Breaking News!: Deputy Governor Of Ekiti State Funmilayo Olayinka Is Dead
The Deputy governor of Ekiti State , Funmilayo Olayinka, has died after a prolonged battle with breast cancer, according to the media in the Ekiti. She was 52.
Mrs. Olayinka, who became the deputy governor of Ekiti State in October 2010, when she was sworn-in alongside the Governor, Kayode Fayemi, was a banker with a masters degree in public administration and a bachelor of business administration from Central State University, Edmond, Oklahoma.
Women across Ekiti State had on March 26 converged on Ado-Ekiti where a prayer session was held for quick recovery of the Deputy Governor who proceeded on sick leave after she felt sick.
The Wife of the Governor, Bisi Fayemi, convened the session, which was also attended by top female officials of the state and appointees, as well as wives of top government functionaries.
This is such a very sad news. I know God has taken her to a place where she would no longer be in pain and agony. My condolence goes to her family members, friends, Ekiti people. My her soul rest in perfect peace.
